dc.description The article describes the position and role of Cossacks in East Siberia’s life in the beginning of the XX century. In the present time the role of Cossacks is getting more important in the social life of Russia: the government assumes the measures for state formation of Cossacks. Also the interest to Cossacks history is growing; it has not been studied in the science works. The purpose of this article is to define the position of Cossacks in East Siberia, make conclusion about the role of Cossacks in the social and political life of this region.
