dc.description	Resumen El trabajo ofrece una breve reseña histórica del Diplomado como figura de posgrado y proporciona algunas consideraciones básicas, entre las que se destaca la de posibilitar lograr en sus egresados las competencias requeridas para el desempeño de determinadas funciones. Se hace un análisis de las principales dificultades metodológicas encontradas en el diseño de los diplomados en el Sistema Nacional de Salud y se describen vías para su solución. Se describen las funciones del diplomado como forma de educación continuada y se hace énfasis en las posibilidades que brinda en el programa de Diplomados de Proyección Comunitaria. También se sugieren variables para conformar un patrón de calidad que lleven al perfeccionamiento del diseño de esta importante forma de posgrado.<br>A brief historical review of the Diploma project as a postgraduate education figure is made in this paper. The possibility of those who conclude it to attain the required competence to perform certain functions outstand among the considerations given. The main methodological difficulties found in the design of the Diploma projects in the National Health System are analyzed and the ways to solve them are described. The functions of the Diploma project as a form of continuing education are explained and emphasis is made on the opportunities offered by the Community Diploma Project. Some variables are suggested to have a quality pattern leading to the improvement of the design of this important form of postgraduate education.
