dc.description O texto aborda a educação a distância (EaD) no Brasil sob três ângulos distintos: começa pela apresentação sintética da legislação; em seguida, descreve o panorama da educação superior a distância (graduação): sua breve história e sua performance atual; finalmente, aponta os problemas que a EaD está criando para a atividade de formação docente, especialmente para o curso de Pedagogia. É defendida a tese de que a formação de professores deve ser realizada em sala de aula, lócus que condensa a cultura do ensinar e do aprender e é constituído por relações humanas indispensáveis para a prática docente.<br>This paper approaches Distance Education in Brazil from three different angles: after presenting the legislation, it describes the landscape of distance higher education (graduation): its short history and current performance, and then stresses the problems DE is creating for teacher training, especially in pedagogy courses. It then advocates the thesis that teacher training should be carried out in a classroom, which is the locus that condenses the culture of teaching and learning and involves human relationships essential for teaching.
