dc.description This paper offers an historical analysis of the activities produced and developed by mathematics teachers of the Center for Teaching of Science of Bahia (CECIBA) of the Federal University of Bahia, from 1965 to 1969, specially, the program for middle school geometry teaching. The main goal of this research was to analyze if this program was a local and peculiar form of appropriation of the international program of modernization of the mathematics teaching in both middle and high schools that was diffused in Brazil during that period. We used a set of documents written by the teachers of CECIBA, which were obtained in the CECIBA’s historical archives. &#13; &#13; Keywords: Center for Science Teaching of Bahia. Mathematics. Modernization.<br>Este trabalho apresenta uma análise histórica das atividades produzidas e desenvolvidas pela equipe de professores de matemática do Centro de Ensino de Ciências da Bahia (CECIBA) da Universidade Federal da Bahia de 1965 a 1969, em particular, o programa curricular para o ensino ginasial de geometria. O objetivo geral do trabalho foi analisar em que medida essa proposta constituiu-se numa forma local peculiar de apropriação de um programa internacional de modernização do ensino da matemática no secundário que teve certa difusão no Brasil durante aquele período. Na constituição dessa análise nos apoiamos principalmente no conjunto de documentos produzidos pela equipe de professores do CECIBA e obtidos nos seus arquivos.&#13; &#13; Palavras-chave: Centro de Ensino de Ciências da Bahia.
