dc.description	A sociologia da pequena infância é analisada como uma sociologia da socialização. A noção de socialização é descrita, primeiro, segundo dois modelos principais: o modelo vertical de imposição de normas, valores e práticas (o modelo durkheimiano), e o modelo interativo da construção de si por meio de "negociações" entre a criança e o seu meio. A seguir, as pesquisas sobre a definição dominante da pequena infância e sua difusão entre as classes sociais são examinadas e criticadas. O caso da escola maternal na França é abordado por uma análise da evolução da freqüentação e uma análise do currículo, sendo este entendido ao mesmo tempo como currículo formal (prescrito oficialmente) e como currículo real (a experiência vivida nas situações cotidianas). Os trabalhos recentes apontam para uma aproximação da sociologia com a antropologia e com a etnologia, assim como para o uso do conceito de "cultura".<br>The early childhood sociology is analysed as sociology of socialization. The notion of socialization is first described according to two models: the vertical one of imposing norms, values and practices (the Durkheimia model); and the interactive model of the construction of the self through "negotiations" between children and their environment. Research into the dominant social definition of early childhood and its diffusion among the different social classes is then critically examined. The situation of the French nursery school (école maternelle) is analysed thanks to the attendance evolution and the curriculum, understood both as formal curriculum (officially prescribed) and actual curriculum (real experience in everyday situations). New research leads to links between sociology and anthropology and ethnology, as well as to the use of the concept of "culture".
