dc.description Analysing the stylistic and formal features of ‘staged songs’ preserved in Golden Century sources, we check that some of the rhymes that accompanied children’s games seem to share the same characteristics. Furthermore, from a formal and structural viewpoint, these songs possess certain features that distinguish them from other compositions of the Iberian Peninsula Old Poetry. In general, these ‘staged songs’ are longer and show a constant metric and formal irregularity, that excludes them of what is commonly known as the ‘Old Popular Poetry’. These formal and structural differences reveal that‘staged songs’ having not been sieved through theclassical literature, as many other compositions of the old popular poetry have, keep their traditional flavour and are closer to contemporary folklore.
