Purpose The paper focuses on the analysis of the negative connotation and identification the role of the Avar pejoratives in forming the linguistic picture of the world from the point of view of comparative linguistics. Methodology A theoretical research is based on comparative method, descriptive method, statistical analysis, contrastive analysis. Results The functioning of the pejoratives and phraseological units with a negative connotation in the Avar language shows the significant differences of the linguistic picture of the world of the Russian language. Most typical are self-criticism, irony, and the absence of such person’s qualities as selfishness, self-love, narcissism. Practical implications Phraseology and pejoratives are perspective branches in the Daghestan linguistics. The results of the research can be implied in the phraseology as an additional help for the further development of this area. As regards to the the pejorative in the Dagestan linguistics, the research results can be a starting point for it. |
