The category «religiosity», being one of most often used in modern religious studies, still remains undeveloped. The large quantity of empirical researches of religiosity with different outcomes is carried out. This suggests the necessity for research of issues, trends and controversies of religiosity. The objective of research is to explore issues and trends in the study of religion within the context societal and philosophical concepts of the nature and elemental forms of religious life. Most prior investigations have used measures of religiosity that do not reflect its complexity and/or have examined a small number of outcomes. Although most religious scholars agree that religiosity is a complex, multidimensional construct (i.e., comprised of more than one component), few studies of religiosity have used multidimensional measures of religion. It is maintained that the mechanisms of the various theories of religiosity are not exclusive, but complementary, and that integration into the unified theoretical model of religiosity is both theoretically and empirically beneficial. This article describes the confirmation of a multidimensional measurement of religiosity and unified theoretical model of religiosity. Implications for further research on religiosity are discussed. |
