In this article we analyse the educational answers drawn up from the model of education for citizenship put forward by the Intercultural Education Research Group (GREDI). The model includes two basic dimensions: citizenship as status and citizenship as process. Citizenship as process implies the citizens’ active practice. From this perspective citizenship is understood as a social construct, which means that to be a citizen is not linked exclusively to the legal acquisition of a status, but also to the development of a sense of belonging to a community that leads citizens to become involved in public matters and acquire the necessary social competence for an active participation in the public sphere. |
