dc.description F. Brunot’s revolutionary book “Thought and Language” (1922) establishes his main thesis according to which language cannot be conceived as being separate from its sociological context. This thesis also constitutes the fundamental principal of the contemporary Communicative Approach language teaching method. The Communicative Approach prioritizes communication as a teaching tool. It reckons that the ability to perfectly communicate a foreign language requires a thorough knowledge of the relevant society’s socio-cultural components. In this paper, we have tried to prove that some special usages which, we believe, accurately reflect French society’s socio-cultural aspects but which also go against French grammar rules can be appropriately learned through the authentic documents used by the Communicative Approach.
