Single crystals of L-Histidine Nitrate (LHN) were grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the crystal belongs to orthorhombic system with the space group P212121. The optical transmission study reveals the transparency of the crystal in the region 230-1100nm and the cut off wave length has been found to be 230nm. The optical band gap is found to be 3.80eV. Dielectric studies were also carried out. Photoconductivity measurements carried out on the grown crystal reveal a negative photoconducting nature. |
