dc.description This paper presents descriptions of studies documented in the scientific literature dealing with the relationship between Mathematics and Physics disciplines in introductory undergraduate courses in Physics. We analyze the implications of these studies for ongoing research that investigates and develops alternative ways of addressing the mathematical content of the course of Calculus I, by integration with physical contents of the introductory Physics course aimming at meaningful learning of these contents. The articles analyzed were distributed into four categories: Relations between Mathematics and Physics; Articulating Strategies; Difficulties with Mathematics Learning, and Problems Originating in Basic Education. The results of this analysis combined the results obtained in previous stages of our research provide some guidelines that can guide the methodology for an integrated education system.
