This paper will address aspects of the military situation of Mérida between 1781 and 1810, but understanding the history as a process of gestation; it is necessary to understand some historical facts as well as triggered a root of the independence movement as a result of the crisis of the monarchy in Spain. This will involve studying a poorly treated in the historiography, between 1781 and 1810, ie between the revolt of the commune, when the first bodies of disciplined militia were established until the break with Spain, where loyalty to the King begins to crumble militia in the ranks, until the formation of the republican army. |
