dc.description	Se realiza una investigación cualitativa para obtener la caracterización del modo de actuación general del tutor de especialidades médicas que desarrollan su labor en la educación en el trabajo, como paso necesario para estrategias futuras que perfeccionen a esta figura del posgrado. Para ello se aplicaron métodos teóricos, empíricos como encuestas a tutores, residentes, dinámica grupal, entrevistas a directivos docentes y estadísticos de análisis porcentual. En general hubo buena experiencia tutoreal, ostentando el 97,5 % la categoría docente de asistente. La mayoría no ostentaba categoría científica y se encontraron dificultades en la identificación de algunas funciones especialmente, didácticas. Ningún tutor recibió preparación para esta función. Los residentes reclamaron una atención integral y comprometida por parte del tutor. Los directivos aprecian que el desempeño de los tutores puede mejorar. Los autores concluyen que se hace necesario un sistema de mejoramiento integral a esta figura tan importante en las formas académicas de posgrado.<br>A qualitative research was conducted to obtain the characterization of the general mode of acting of the tutors of medical specialties that are engaged in work education as a necessary step for future strategies that improve this postgraduate figure. Theoretical and empiric methods, such as surveys to tutors and residents, group dynamics, interviews to teaching directors and to percentage analysis statisticians, were applied. In general, there was a good tutorial experience. 97.5 % had the assistant teaching rank. Most of them did not have the scientific rank and difficulties were found in the identification of some functions, mainly didactic. No tutor was trained for this function. The residents claimed a comprehensive and compromised attention from the tutor. The managers consider that the performance of the tutors may improve. The authors conclude that it is necessary a comprehensive improvement system for this important figure in the academic postgraduate forms.
