dc.description	The article develops the basic concepts of physical education and how to put them into practice as Letamendi had intended. According to Letamendi the education of men should consist of the harmonious development of body and mind; he was inspired in his theory by the hellenic educational ideal through Christian meditation. The study is based on the project for state schools. Letamendi proposes a form of education that is an integral system where moral, health and reasoning are included. Therefore, Letamendi defends gymnastics as an element of the education of men to be revitalised. Given that, as is mentioned above, the model which acts as the point of reference is Greek, Letamendi proposes a conversion from Greek to Christian gymnastics.<br>El artículo desarrolla los conceptos básicos de la Educación física, y forma de ejecución de los mismos, tal y como la entendía Letamendi. Según el mismo, la formación del hombre debía consistir en una formación armónica del cuerpo y el espíritu; se inspiró Letamendi para elaborar dicha teoría, en el Ideal educativo helénico mediatizado por el cristianismo. El proyecto desde el cual se basa el estudio es el de las Escuelas Populares. En él, Letamendi apuesta por una educación entendida como un sistema integral en el que se ven implicados la Moral, la Salud y la Razón. Así, Letamendi propugna una revalorización de la gimnasia como elemento de formación del hombre. Como se ha antedicho, el modelo gimnástico de referencia debe ser el de la gimnasia griega. Se propone de esta forma, una conversión de la gimnástica griega al cristianismo.
