dc.description Resumen: El propósito de este artículo es caracterizar a educadoras de párvulos que se desempeñan en el nivel sala cuna en una muestra de jardines infantiles de diferentes comunas de la provincia de Concepción, Chile. Los datos se recogieron por medio de un cuestionario que se aplicó a 36 educadoras responsables de una sala cuna, y se analizaron con el programa estadístico SPSS. Los principales hallazgos muestran que las profesionales tienen poca experiencia y especialización en el ámbito de la educación de niños y niñas de cero a tres años, una satisfacción media con las condiciones de trabajo, y tienen una muy buena percepción de su desempeño profesional. Los resultados permiten visualizar tanto requerimientos formativos como laborales. Asimismo, aportan elementos para debatir políticas de formación inicial y continua de las profesionales que se desempeñan en el nivel sala cuna.Abstract: The purpose of the article is to characterize infant toddler teachers who work in a sample of nursery schools in different districts in the province of Concepción, Chile. Data were collected through a questionnaire applied to 36 infant toddler teachers responsible for a room at a nursery school and analyzed using the SPSS statistical programme. The main findings show that professionals have little experience and expertise in the education of children between zero and three years old, an average satisfaction with working conditions and a very good perception of their professional performance. The results allow visualizing both training and working requirements. Furthermore, they provide elements to discuss nursery professional initial training and continuous professional development policies.
