dc.description The article reveals the results of studying Russian national experience and the research and development work of the author devoted to the organizing of learning in mixed-aged groups (MAG) of schoolchildren in different educational establishments, including small rural schools. The author explains the educational potential of such learning, studies the interaction mechanisms, the basic functions of schoolchildren’s learning in mixed-aged groups. To increase the efficiency of learning in a mixed-aged group some principles are recommended, such as the principles of the integration and differentiation of tasks, contents and methods of learning in a mixed-aged group of schoolchildren; the principle of the pedagogization of schoolchildren’s learning activity; the mutual learning principle; the principle of regulating schoolchildren’s interaction; the principle of schoolchildren age range optimality at a lesson in a mixed-aged group; the principles of flexibility, variability, diversity and dynamics. The article examines some concrete ways of these principles realization. The author introduces the ways of schoolchildren’s interaction at different stages of a lesson, and forms of schoolchildren’s joint learning activities in a mixed-aged group.
