dc.description La motivation étant un facteur clé dans l’apprentissage des langues, nous avons voulu étudier l’impact d’une première année d’enseignement d’anglais à l’IUT sur la motivation des étudiant/es. L’analyse de deux questionnaires, distribués en début et en fin d’année, a permis de mesurer l’évolution de la motivation initiale ou de l’absence de motivation. Elle nous a également permis de mieux cerner les facteurs méthodologiques, psychologiques et institutionnels susceptibles d’expliquer cette évolution pour en tirer des orientations pédagogiques significatives qui permettraient d’augmenter la motivation.<br>Motivation is a key factor in language learning. The present study is an analysis of the impact of English classes on first-year IUT students’ motivation to learn English. It is based on the analysis of two questionnaires given at the beginning and at the end of the year. The results of this comparison have enabled us to study the evolution of students’ motivation or absence of motivation and the methodological, psychological and institutional factors that may explain it. We have drawn some conclusions and guidelines for both colleagues and institutions.
