dc.description Since man becomes human consciousness he develops the ability to contextualize his actions, and interact with others of the same species, this leads to societies that are governed by a set of rules, which enable man to build social groups and live in them. This phenomenon depends on the paradigm they are based on. Consequently, the vision of man's world will be transformed significantly, when he contextualizes his actions in plural, with values in a democracy. Modernity, pluralism, postmodernism and education are four important aspects that guide the vision of the world, which is why the purpose of this literature review is to examine these concepts through various authors who wrote about the subject and thereby to construct a definition that describes each phenomenon. The main reflection of this research lies in the assertion that the world's wealth is supported by the cultural and ethnic diversity that makes of it a pluriverse, so it is essential that education has a pedagogical basis for democracy that empowers criticality, creativity, reflection and the autonomy of man in front of the XX1 century demands.
