The article ―Means of Language Competence Development of Students Studying Spanish as a Foreign Language (Based on personal experience working at ISLU)‖ is devoted to the problem of developing linguistic competence in students studying Spanish as a foreign language. The author analyses the interchange of the terms ―linguistic competence‖ in the practice of teaching a foreign language with the notion of ―communicative competence‖, which includes discourse, as well as sociolinguistic and pragmatic (strategic) components. The author proposes that the main objective of foreign language teaching is the development of language consciousness, which can be achieved by a critical analysis of publicistic discourse. The article is based on the personal experience that was accumulated during the time the author worked at ISLU. The author comes to the conclusion that one of the successful methods for developing a feel for a foreign language as well as communicative competence in a language is an analysis of the causes for communication failures upon which the humor of comics, jokes, light poems, etc. are based. |
