dc.description This paper composes part of a larger study by Alonso (2004) whose main purpose was the development of an alternative to the study of functions in high school. We approached this subject making clear the relationship among variable quantities, working with cooperative groups using Amplified Problem Solving involving socio-political themes, aiming to develop individual commitment to cultural, political and social issues in Brazilian society. Theoretical bases for the study included Critical – Historical Pedagogy as well as Vygotsky`s theory of development and learning.&#13; &#13; Key Words: Co-operative Groups. Social Justice. Transversal Themes.<br>O presente artigo é parte da dissertação de mestrado de Alonso (2004) que teve como objetivo principal o desenvolvimento de uma alternativa para o estudo de funções no Ensino Médio. Esse conteúdo foi abordado explicitando-se a relação entre grandezas variáveis, trabalhado em Grupos Co-operativos, através da Resolução de Problemas Ampliados envolvendo Temas Político-Sociais, com a finalidade de contribuir para a formação de indivíduos comprometidos com os aspectos Sociais, Políticos e Culturais da Sociedade Brasileira. O trabalho teve como embasamento teórico a Pedagogia Histórico-Crítica e a teoria do desenvolvimento e da aprendizagem de Vigotski.&#13; &#13; Palavras-Chave: Grupos Co-operativos. Justiça Social.
