dc.description | Se continúa analizando de forma cualitativa y cuantitativa, la evolución histórica de la educación médica superior en Cuba durante el período comprendido desde el 1 de enero de 1959 hasta el año 2004 en algunos aspectos que permiten conocer el desarrollo alcanzado en esta esfera. Se analizan los siguientes elementos: matrícula, actividades extracurriculares, inspecciones académicas, examen estatal, graduados, eficiencia académica, movimiento estudiantil, servicio social de los graduados, el proyecto Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina, educación de posgrado, examen estatal, perfeccionamiento, maestrías, educación virtual, año sabático, doctorado, investigación científica, internacionalismo, universalización de la universidad, el trabajo con las organizaciones políticas y de masas y la repercusión del período de crisis económica. Se destacan debilidades, fortalezas y retos y se concluye que en esta etapa, la educación médica superior cubana alcanzó significativos avances, muy superiores a los ocurridos en los casi 4 siglos y medio anteriores de colonia, intervenciones norteamericanas y república mediatizada que vivió Cuba.<br>This paper continued quantitatively and qualitatively analyzing some aspects of the historical development of higher medical education in Cuba from January 1st 1959 to 2004 to find out the advancement made in this sphere. The following elements were assessed: registration, extracurricular activities, academic surveys, institutional tests, graduates, academic performance, student´s movement, social service provided by graduates, Latin-American School of Medicine project, graduate course education, institutional testing, improvement, master´s courses, virtual teaching, sabbatical year, Ph D, scientific research, internationalism, universalization of universities, the work with political and mass organizations and the impact of the economic crisis period. It underlined weaknesses, strengths and challenges and concluded that at this phase, the Cuban higher medical education reached significant advances compared to those achieved in almost 4 centuries and a half of colonial domination, American interference and US-dependent republic. | |
