El portafolio docente a escrutinio: sus posibilidades y restricciones en la formación y evaluación del profesorado

dc.description	A pesar del gran entusiasmo y amplia difusión que han despertado los portafolios como recurso innovador en la evaluación y formación del profesorado, debe realizarse un análisis de su sentido y alcances, para evitar su empleo indiscriminado y poco crítico. En este artículo se revisa el surgimiento y supuestos educativos de los portafolios docentes, así como algunos estudios que dan cuenta de su potencialidad como recurso de evaluación auténtica y reflexión sobre la propia identidad y práctica educativa de los docentes en formación. Asimismo, se revisan una serie de críticas y notas precautorias respecto a su empleo, sobre todo cuando se pretende su aplicación como instrumento estandarizado a gran escala. Se concluye que su mayor potencial reside en promover la autoevaluación reflexiva de los profesores y en la posibilidad de impulsar un cambio en la cultura de la evaluación en las instituciones educativas. Al mismo tiempo, el gran riesgo consiste en la proliferación de una mirada exclusivamente técnica y sesgada, centrada en los instrumentos de calificación, con poco fundamento teórico e investigación empírica.<br><br>In spite of the great enthusiasm and ample diffusion that have waked up the portfolios as a innovating resource in the assessment and education of the teaching staff, an analysis of their sense must be carried out to avoid their indiscriminate and little critical use. This article reviews the origins and educative foundations of teaching portfolios, as well as some studies that report their potentiality as a resource of authentic assessment and reflection on the own identity and educative practice of preservice teachers. Also, criticism and precautionary notes with respect to their use are reviewed, mainly when its application is tried as large-scale standardized instrument. The potential of Portfolios resides in the promotion of teacher's reflective self-evaluation and in the possibility of driving a change in the culture of assessment in the educative institutions. At the same time, the great risk consists of the proliferation of an exclusively technical and biased glance, centered in the instruments, with little theoretical ground and empirical investigation.
