dc.description O objetivo deste artigo é compensar a insuficiência da teorização a respeito da economia do conhecimento por parte dos sociólogos e identificar as implicações da análise aqui desenvolvida para a educação. O texto começa distinguindo e expondo as diferentes explicações do papel do conhecimento na economia do conhecimento; em seguida, argumenta sobre as conexões que podem ser estabelecidas entre essas duas concepções de conhecimento e a economia do conhecimento por meio do conceito de "culturas epistêmicas" (Cetina, 1999), e conclui examinando as implicações das "culturas epistêmicas" para a educação.<br>The aim of this article is to redress the under theorisation of the knowledge economy by sociologists and to identify the implications of the analysis developed here for education. The chapter starts by distinguishing between and accounting for the different explanations of the role of knowledge in the knowledge economy, it then argues that connections can be made between these two conceptions of knowledge and the knowledge economy though the concept of epistemic cultures (Cetina, 1999). It then concludes by considering the implications of epistemic cultures for education.
