A EDUCAÇÃO A DISTÂNCIA COMO UMA MODALIDADE DE ENSINO NAS PENITENCIÁRIAS FEDERAIS. DISTANCE EDUCATION AS A TEACHING METHOD IN FEDERAL PRISONS

dc.description	No Brasil, a Educação a Distância tem um valor estratégico por possibilitar a democratização do acesso à educação em locais distantes dos grandes centros urbanos. Entretanto, pode-se estender este valor estratégico aos presídios de segurança máxima por favorecer a assistência educacional para as pessoas em situação de perda de liberdade, o que já está previsto na legislação. Além desse aspecto, destaca-se o incentivo à autonomia nos estudos como uma marca da Educação a Distância, oportuna a este público, e a possibilidade de remição de parte do tempo de execução da pena de acordo com a Lei de Execução Penal. O objetivo deste trabalho é contribuir para o debate em torno do tema a partir de reflexões em que se analisa a legislação e os trabalhos de especialistas. In Brazil, Distance Education has a strategic value as it enables the democratization of access to education in places far from the city center area. However, this strategic value could also become available to maximum security penitentiaries since it supports educational assistance for people who have been deprived of freedom, seeing that it has already become regulated by law. Furthermore, it is relevant to consider the fact that it provides opportunity of fostering autonomy in studies, which stands as a mark of distance education, and it is adequate for that target population, in addition to the possibility of remission of part of the sentencing time in accordance to the Penal Execution Law. The aim of this paper is to contribute to the debate regarding the theme from reflections that analyze legislation and experts’ work.
