dc.description Associative processes provide strong basis for a great number of theories of creativity, but they are unable to fully explain all the experimental data we possess. We’ve conducted an experiment to show a significant role of prototypes structure in Guilford’s test results. We used subjects answers for one object (brick) to Guilford’s Alternative Uses Test from author’s previous study and eliminated all mentions of brick from the answers. Our subjects rated given answers from Uses test on a scale from 1 to 5 for five different objects. The results showed similar structure for all objects: the higher reaction time for mean scores and lower reaction time for extreme scores. All objects proved to have the same classical structure, with good example in the center of the category and the periphery with the remaining answers and bad examples of the category. These findings prove that subjects use several different objects instead of one specified by the experimenter while working on creativity tests.
