dc.description The authors present the results of a study on the integration of general theoretic methods of research; they also show the application of the theory developed to the solution of a concrete problem of science, given by the study of the intellectual property at the university. Some distinctions with respect to modelling and the theory of systems are included, as well as a theoretical and methodological proposal regarding modelling, which contains, as an important element, the notion of assignment of content. Such a notion is conceived as part of the process of constructing and demonstrating the hypothesis. <br> Los autores dan a conocer resultados relacionados con el estudio de la integración de métodos teóricos generales de investigación, y muestran una aplicación a la solución de un problema concreto de las ciencias, dado en el estudio de la propiedad intelectual en la universidad. Se incluyen respectivas distinciones al modelado y a los sistemas, así como una propuesta teórico - metodológica para el primero, que contiene, en su parte más importante, la noción de asignación de contenido; tal noción se concibe como parte del proceso de construir y demostrar una hipótesis.
