Partindo da Lei das Escolas de Primeiras Letras, aprovada no Brasil em 15 de outubro de 1827, e traçando um paralelo com a Itália em torno das questões da emigração e do analfabetismo, o autor esboça a sua própria trajetória acadêmica e intelectual, de modo a concluir com o destaque da importância da escola como elemento estratégico para o desenvolvimento dos talentos representados pelas crianças e jovens, sem o que o próprio futuro do país fica comprometido.<br>From the "Lei das Escolas de Primeiras Letras" (Educational Act for First Letters), approved in Brazil on October 15, 1827, and through a parallel with Italy, as for immigration and illiteracy issues, the author sketches out his own academic and intellectual itinerary. This is meant to highlight the importance of school as a strategic element to develop the talents lying dormant in children and youths, an essential prerequisite for the future of Brazil. |
