In this essay I intend to review Jorge Luis Borges´s short story An examination of the work of Herbert Quain, starting from the idea that in said short story the traditional protocols regarding the authorial, writing, and reading experiences that tend to offer certain directions to a literary work, are broken. I am interested in showing that in this short story the categories that legitimate the experience of the artifact "short story" are put in question, and that at the same time said categories propose an alternative protocol of the experience, a protocol that is not solved in the interpretation of the short story, but which generates a theoretical map of relationships with other texts in the book The garden of forking paths.<br>En este trabajo pretendo leer el cuento de Borges Examen de la obra de Herbert Quain, a partir de la idea de que en él se rompe con los protocolos tradicionales de las experiencias autoriales, escriturales y lectoras que tienden a ofrecer sentidos ciertos sobre la obra literaria. Me interesa mostrar que en este relato las categorías que legitiman la experiencia del artefacto cuento son puestas en cuestión, y que, al ponerse en cuestión, al mismo tiempo postulan un protocolo alternativo de la experiencia que no se resuelve en la interpretación del relato, sino que genera un mapa teórico de relaciones con otros textos del libro El jardín de senderos que se bifurcan. |
