dc.description	Concepts of student education and examination are destined to change in our university hospitals as a reaction to the new rules governing registration. To adapt to the new situation, the subject matter to be taught and examined must be clearly defined for the university lecturers, examiners and students in every field. Based on the available textbooks and in accordance with current concepts of education and examination, we have created a curriculum for orthopaedic and trauma surgery at the University of Freiburg that may serve as a reference work on which other university hospitals can base their own curricula or act as an addition to those curricula. Clearly defined and reliable curricula for students, lecturers and examiners improve the quality of education and make evaluation easier and more objective.
