This study aims to determine learning styles of students, teaching styles of mathematics teachers and to research the effects of both teaching and learning styles on students’ mathematical success. Relational survey method was utilized in this study. The sample group of the study consist of 954 7th grade and their mathematics teachers from 11 primary schools in Aydın. Grasha Riechmann Learning Style Inventory and ‘‘The Mathematical Success Test’’ was applied to determine in order their learning styles and mathematical success. Grasha Teaching Style Inventory was used to identify teaching styles of mathematics teachers. Frequency, percent distribution and one-way ANOVA were used to analyze data. As a result it was found that nearly half of the students have participant learning style, most of the teachers have delegate/facilitator/ expert teaching style. It was also found that students’ learning styles and teachers’ teaching styles are efficient on mathematical success. |
