dc.description Brain and its processes have attracted experts and laypersons from the beginnings of humankind. In the last decades, brain and its functioning have been associated with the issue of education. This trend has led to intensive interest of scientists of various fields who study human brain and discover mysteries of its processes. One group of scientists have been applying these scientific and neurological facts in teaching and learning processes to improve and make it more effective. This process has resulted in many scientific studies and monographs, published mostly abroad. The paper presents fundamental terms of the learning theory based on brain study such as neuropedagogy and brain compatible learning. These terms have become extremely popular nowadays and the amount of scientific efforts to understand the concept is still growing. The aim of the paper is to introduce theoretical fundamentals of neuropedagogy and brain compatible learning, their origins and motives behind their research. The paper presents definitions of both terms (neuropedagogy and brain compatible learning) and explains the relationships between them and teaching/learning processes. The paper also points to the possibilities of practical application of neuropedagogy in real education practice.
