dc.description En este estudio se analizan de conjunto los resultados cuantitativos y cualitativos obtenidos en las inspecciones académicas realizadas a 20 Centros de la Educación Médica Superior (CEMS) durante los cursos académicos 1993-1994 a 1999-2000 (7 cursos), en lo concerniente a ingreso de estudiantes y trabajadores a la educación médica superior, trabajo de las secretarías generales y docentes, planificación y control del proceso docente-educativo en el centro de enseñanza y departamentos, trabajo pedagógico y educativo, perfeccionamiento profesional, medios de enseñanza, investigaciones, información cientificotécnica y literatura docente, trabajo con becarios extranjeros, actividades docentes controladas, historias clínicas evaluadas, exámenes aplicados a los estudiantes de pregrado y residentes, estado político moral, elaboración de informes finales, planes de medidas y calificación obtenidos por los centros de enseñanzas inspeccionados, y se destacan las fortalezas y debilidades existentes en estas áreas, la utilidad de las inspecciones académicas para la Educación Médica Superior y la necesidad de realizarlas con mayor frecuencia en el futuro, con vistas a tener una visión lo más real posible del proceso docente-educativo que se desarrolla en los CEMS y sus unidades docentes del Sistema de Salud.<br>This study analyzes both the quantitative and qualitative results of academic supervisions that were made in 20 Higher medical education centers during the academic yeas 1993-1994 to 1999-2000 (seven courses) regarding entrance of students and workers in Higher medical education; labor of general and teaching departments, the planning and control of the teaching and educational works, professional upgrading; teaching aids, research work, scientific and technical information and teaching literature, work carried out with foreign scholarship holders, controlled teaching activities, evaluated medical histories, tests applied to pre-grade students and residents, political and moral status, drafting of final reports, programs of actions, and qualifications obtained by the surveyed educational centers. The study also outlines the strengths and weaknesses of the different areas, the usefulness of academic supervisions in Higher medical education and the need of carrying them out more frequently in the coming years, with a view to having a vision as real as possible of the teaching-educational process in Higher medical education centers and their teaching units throughout the health care system.
