This paper presents an overview of the management of the health human resources formation process, based on the acquisition and consolidation of a group of teaching competencies required for attaining a teaching performance in line with the present context. An assessment analysis is made on the basis of a constructivist methodological approach, with a historical-cultural dimension that views the formation of competencies within the cognitive-affective framework, which encourages the individual performance to successfully solve situations that might arise. The paper suggests a number of competencies that a professor should have in order to perform teaching according to the professional health model that the present society demands.
