The Effect of Cognitive Readiness on The Academic Success of The Students Taking Foreign Language Courses at Faculties of Education

dc.description In this study, the readiness of the students in foreign language courses in the faculties of education and the relationship between readiness and academic success were investigated. The universe of the study is the students in KırĢehir Faculty of Education. The sample of the research was composed of 176 first grade students who were randomly chosen among the ones studying in KırĢehir Faculty of Education. In the study, pre test-post test investigation pattern was used. The data were obtained by “ The Scale of Readiness and Accomplishment Level of Students in Foreign Language” which was developed by the researcher. The Alpha Internal Consistency Coefficient for the scale was calculated as 0,87. While analyzing the data, Arithmetic mean, Standard deviation and t- Test were used. At the end of the study it was found out that the readiness and academic success of the students have changed according to the sex. The difference was in female students’ favour. Moreover, the students who attended to the high school with preparatory program were more successful than not attended ones. As a result, there was a significant relationship between the readiness level and the academic success of the students. The difference was found in favour of the students who had higher readiness level.
