XML has become a standard format ininformation exchange and integration on the Web. Muchresearch has been conducted in recent years on XMLtechnology, which has led to new developments in this field.The effective combination of XML and relational databasesfor portable Internet data exchange and data managementis the technology platform of choice for the InternetApplications. Our paper describes the relationship betweenXML and relational databases and its potential as anenabling technology to support e-learning. In addition, thepaper discusses how relational databases and XML fittogether and briefly illustrates their implication in thedevelopment of e-learning systems. We introduce our elearningmodel, as an example of this new developingmethodology. |
