Six selected autobiographies of people, four men and two women, who are visibly physically impaired from birth are analysed for mechanisms of coping by the qualitative content analysis according to Mayring. There is a wide range of age, nationality and handicap. The central event should be mentioned, that over their whole lifetime the authors have continuously accepted their own physical impairment. Mechanisms of coping depend on social attributions of people in case that their way of life is handicaped by these and this contributes to their personality stigmatised and discriminated. In respect of this background information, educational science has to wonder again, which consequences for its direction of content can be deduced by it within the meaning of „Support of Society”. |
