dc.description El presente artículo revisa algunas de las experiencias de educación para la democracia desarrolladas tanto en el ámbito nacional como internacional. Luego de agruparlas, según su objetivo y énfasis, en educación para los derechos humanos y la paz mundial, reformulación de programas de formación docente, acciones orientadas a construir material instruccional, prácticas que enfatizan la formación de valores democráticos, experiencias de educación multiculturalista y desarrollo de habilidades específicas en los estudiantes, se reflexiona acerca del rol que asumen los estudiantes en cada una de ellas como un elemento central para el diseño e implementación de este tipo de iniciativas.<br>This article analyses some democracy education experiences developed either in our country or outside. The experiences were classified by its goals and emphasis on human rights and world peace education, rethinking the teacher training programs, instructional materials building, practices that emphasize democratic values, multicultural education and experiences which develop students specific skills. The student’s role in each of these experiences is reviewed as a central point to design and implement this kind of experiences.
