dc.description O presente artigo tem por objetivo refletir sobre a incidência de uma cultura de consumo de mercadorias, tal como diagnosticada por diversos autores, nas construções de sentido de jovens e adolescentes do Ensino Médio. Tomando-se como marco teórico as perspectivas da filósofa Hannah Arendt, do sociólogo Zygmunt Bauman e do psicanalista Jurandir Freire Costa, os autores buscaram tecer análises e interpretações que, coadunadas com um olhar educacional do contexto escolar contemporâneo, colaboram para a compreensão do desinteresse juvenil nas atividades de sala de aula. Em particular, a partir de elementos comportamentais presentes em uma sociedade de consumidores, são esboçados cenários presentes na crise do Ensino Médio brasileiro frente a jovens e adolescentes. O estudo conclui que, dadas as atuais demandas comportamentais presentes em uma cultura organizada em torno do consumo, a condição juvenil presentificada nas escolas tem se mostrado resistente a construções de sentido que vejam o aprendizado no ensino médio inserido em um projeto de longo prazo. Como resultado se têm, então, adesões distanciadas e o predomínio de uma cultura da diversão nos espaços escolares.<br>The following essay aims at reflecting upon the incidence of a goods consuming culture, as identified by several authors, in the constructions of meanings by youngsters and adolescents from High School. The perspectives of the philosopher Hannah Arendt, the sociologist Zygmunt Bauman and the psychoanalyst Jurandir Freire Costa were taken into consideration to carry out the authors' analyses and interpretations. Such analyses, combined with an educational view of contemporary school context, collaborated to the comprehension of the youngsters' lack of interest in classroom activities. In particular, current scenarios on the crisis of Brazilian High Schools were outlined, considering youngsters and adolescents, based on behavioral elements present in a consumers' society. The study concludes that, considering the behavior requirements present in a culture organized around the consumption, the condition of youth presented in schools has been resistant to the constructions of meanings that consider High School learning as inserted in a long-term project. As a result, there are drifted adhesions and the predominance of a culture of amusement in school spaces.
