dc.description This special issue focuses on the combination of both fundamental and instructional research about writing. The purpose is to have a better knowledge of written production of children and adults, and propose ways to help the teaching of writing in novices. This introduction presents, in the first part, the different processes of writing and how they develop in beginning writers. The second part introduces the papers of this issue.
