dc.description	We offer a short charakteristic of water polo and its history with the Results taken bynowadays in our article. The attention is concentrated to rules of this specific sport game. This article is also a part of the VEGA research no.1/0443/08 with the title: Physical build - somatology, as the one of the factors of performance of water polo players in the best teams in Slovakia and abroad. It is closely connected with the article made by Kalinkovej - Kalinku (2008) Somatology, somatometry and somatiopsychology. Our work complete the theoritical way of this research.V príspevku predkladáme čitateľovi charakteristiku vodného póla, jeho históriu s poukázaním na dosiahnuté výsledky v tomto športe. Nie vždy a všade má prístup čitateľ v rámci svojho vzdelávania v oblasti športu k najnovším zdrojom údajov a poznatkov z vodného póla. Pozornosť teda upriamujeme nielen na históriu vodného póla ale aj na pravidlá tejto špecifickej kolektívnej športovej hry. Príspevok je súčasťou projektu VEGA č. 1/0443/08 s názvom Telesná stavba (somatotyp) ako jeden z faktorov výkonnosti vodných pólistov v extraligových družstvách na Slovensku a v zahraničí.
