The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of the material developed in conformity with the elaborate stage of the 5E model within the constructivist learning theory in respect of “The Spread of Heat with the Replace of Particle” which takes place in the 6th grade elementary school science and technology curriculum. This study has been carried out with 47 sixth grade students. The experiment group has been composed of 24 students, and a control group has been comprised of 23 students. While in the experiment group, courses have been taught with the prepared material through the elaborate stage, in the control group courses have been conducted with the existing textbook. At the end of this study, a significant difference (U =131, p<.05) has been found between the experiment and control groups in their level of understanding the convection concept, which has been in favour of the experiment group. |
