dc.description Contemporary information technology (IT) has deeply affected undergraduate education from courses arrangement to knowledge structure and ability training because applications of computer and Internet have penetrated into all walks of live. As undergraduate education has to adapt to the requirements of market, some computer-related courses are set for most of majors. However, these courses are excluded from non-computer specialties generally, which challenges the traditional study in order and advance step by step. The “spanning” methodology was proposed to be applied in IT courses teaching for non-computer specialty based on the main computer application problems students will encounter in the future, with the focus on the core knowledge, and proper principles as complements in order to gain partial integrality and expansibility by self-learning.
