dc.description <p align="justify">O presente artigo pretende mostrar, a partir do curso “O poder psiquiátrico” ministrado por Michel Foucault no Collège de France em 1973-1974, a relação entre exercícios ascéticos e as práticas pedagógicas desenvolvidas nas comunidades religiosas medievais e a constituição histórica do poder disciplinar. Para isso, avalia-se o lugar estratégico dos cursos de Foucault para a compreensão de seu pensamento, assim como se aponta a consequência de sua análise, qual seja, por um lado, a necessidade da solidão, do isolamento para a produção do conhecimento e, por outro lado, entretanto, a necessidade de romper este isolamento, tendo em vista a circulação social do saber. Encontrar uma resolução para este conflito constitui-se, por sua vez, numa forma de resistência ao poder disciplinar. <p><b>Abstract</b><p>The present article intends to show, from the course “The psychiatric power” given by Michel Foucault at the Collège de France in 1973-1974, the relationship between ascetic exercises and the pedagogical practices developed in medieval religious communities and the historic constitution of disciplinary power. For this, it is evaluated the strategic place of Foucault’s courses to the understand of his thinking, as it is pointed the consequence of its analysis, that is, firstly, the necessity of solitude, of isolation for the production of knowledge and, on the other hand, however, the necessity to break this isolation, in view of the social circulation of knowledge. Find a resolution to this conflict is, for its part, a form of resistance to disciplinary power.
