La incorporación de las Ciencias Sociales al proceso de formación de recursos humanos en salud, se ha visto favorecida por la aparición de nuevas demandas sociales hacia las profesiones de la salud que han exigido el redimensionamiento del campo de actividad y del sistema de conocimientos, habilidades y valores profesionales, como condición del desempeño exitoso bajo nuevas condiciones. No obstante los avances registrados, la inserción de las Ciencias Sociales en la formación de recursos humanos en salud enfrenta aún serios obstáculos. El presente estudio está dirigido a determinar cuál es el estado actual del proceso de incorporación de las Ciencias Sociales en la formación de posgrado en Salud Pública al nivel internacional y en Cuba. Se describe el estado de este proceso, a partir de la identificación de las estructuras académicas, los programas docentes y las principales áreas de conocimiento en que ellas se encuentran representadas. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal. El universo de estudio estuvo conformado por 60 instituciones que desarrollaron programas docentes de posgrado en Salud Pública en el año 2000. Se realizó un análisis de contenido a partir de la revisión de páginas Web y programas impresos, para obtener información acerca de las estructuras académicas, los programas docentes y las áreas de conocimiento en que participan las Ciencias Sociales. Los resultados propiciaron la comparación del estado actual de inserción de estas ciencias en Cuba con el del resto del mundo, lo que brinda la posibilidad de perfeccionar los programas vigentes y perspectivos.<br>The incorporation of Social Sciences to the training process of health human resources has been favored by the appearance of new social demands from the health professions that require the redimensioning of the field of activity and of the system of knowledge, abilities and professional values as a condition for the successful performance in the new situation. In spite of the advances attained, the insertion of Social Sciences in the training of human resources faces still serious difficulties. This study is directed to determine the current state of the process of incorporation of Social Sciences to the Public Health postgraduate education at the international level and in Cuba. The state of this process is described starting from the identification of academic structures, syllabuses, and the main areas of knowledge where they are represented. To this end, a cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted. 60 institutions that developed postgraduate syllabuses in Public Health in 2000 were included. An analysis of the content was made by reviewing Web pages and printed programs to obtain information about the academic structures, the syllabuses and the areas of knowledge in which Social Sciences take part. The results made easy the comparison of the present state of the insertion of these sciences in Cuba with the rest of the world, allowing the improvement of the standing and future syllabuses. |
