dc.description Presentamos un estudio sobre las operaciones de suma y resta, realizado con alumnos con síndrome de Down. Se entrevistó a un grupo de estudiantes con esta discapacidad mientras resolvían problemas aditivos simples y operaciones de suma y resta. Nuestro objetivo era analizar su conocimiento sobre los significados de estas operaciones, las estrategias y los procedimientos que aplican, así como la relación entre las dificultades que manifiestan y sus características cognitivas. Los resultados muestran que los estudiantes con síndrome de Down usan los mismos niveles de estrategias que los alumnos sin discapacidad, aunque sólo uno llegó al nivel más abstracto. El uso de los dedos o representaciones concretas (bolas) fue la estrategia básica en la realización de las operaciones.</p> We present a study on the operations of addition and subtraction, conducted with students with Down syndrome. We interviewed a group of students with Down syndrome while solving basic additive problems and addition and subtraction operations. Our aim was to analyze their knowledge about the meaning of these operations, the strategies and procedures that they apply, and the relationship between their difficulties and their cognitive characteristics. The results show that students with Down syndrome use the same levels of strategies and procedures than students without any disability, though just one subject operated on the most abstract level. The use of fingers or concrete representations (balls) was the main strategy used for performing operations. <p>
