The purpose of this paper is outline the two medical models that defined childhood in Quebec, Canada between 1930-1970 as well to grasp their influence. The key point of his analysis is to show how scientific knowledge progressively became the reference in childhood education.Dans la mesure où la culture des sociétés industrielles est entrée dans le règne de l’expertise professionnelle, comment l’intervention rationnelle des spécialistes a-t-elle contribué à la construction sociale de l’enfance? L’objectif de cet article consiste à identifier deux modèles professionnels médicaux qui ont investi le domaine de l’enfance au Québec entre 1930 et 1970, et à saisir leur influence sur sa configuration. Il s’agit en effet de comprendre la façon dont les connaissances scientifiques deviennent, au fil du temps, des cadres de référence dans l’éducation des enfants.
