Cet article décrit une expérience d’autoformation menée à l’IUFM de Nancy en 2004-2005.<br>To increase the insufficient number of primary school teachers qualified to teach foreign languages in primary schools in France, several efforts were made by the Ministry of Education. For example, in 2001 a module called “Dominante Langues vivantes” was created in the Teacher Training Colleges to enable the students interested in languages to improve their competences. However, this module is only optional for second year students. We consider that self-directed learning can constitute an alternative to meet the needs of primary school teachers. This article describes an experiment of self-directed learning carried out in the Teacher Training Colleges of Nancy in 2004-2005.
