Proverbs and sayings occupy an important place in the literary heritage of any na-tion, and are both its national property and reflection of the people's history. They are the collection of apt expression created by the people within several millennium, ex-pressing the wise thoughts of the people and events which are found in nature and life. The content of proverbs and sayings reflects the social life of the people, its cus-toms, traditions, ideas and knowledge. Proverbs and sayings differ the accuracy, brevity and depth of thought. They are the most fertile source of ethnolinguistics. Considering that the content of any proverbs and sayings display information regard-ing the ethnic characteristics of the people, their spiritual culture, worldview, tradi-tions, etc., the role of proverbs and sayings in the knowledge of the essence of the ethnic group is large.
