No se perciben capaces y hábiles en matemáticas ni hacen uso de distintas estrategias para la resolución de los problemas matemáticos (Nota 1).<br>The purpose of this work was to study the affective domain (attitudes, beliefs, and emotions) of prospective primary education teachers at the University of Extremadura (Spain) in relation to learning mathematics; given its importance and influence on the affective behaviour of primary pupils and their achievements in that discipline. This behaviour may also explain much of the attraction and rejection primary pupils show towards mathematics. This paper is a summary of the study by Caballero (2007) entitled Attitudes and Emotions towards Mathematics by Primary Education prospective Teachers at the University of Extremadura. A sample responded to a 48-item questionnaire. Data was subjected to a descriptive and inferential analysis. Results showed the need to improve students' affective factors, since they showed nervousness, lack of self confidence, inability to solve mathematics problems, lack of skills in the use of strategies for solving mathematics problems.
